This was the most unique wedding I have ever experienced. Tzen and Aaron, artists and designers who live in London, curated every aspect of this celebration to be truly unique. The setting was Juvet Landscape Hotel in Norway, a mystical place grounded in raw nature. Individual rooms are surrounded by greenery with little hatches that slide open to let the sound of the rushing river in. It was extrememly intimate with just close friends and family. Days were filled with canyoning, kayaking, foraging walks, sauna, strawberry picking, many shared meals, and finally the celebration.
Francoise and John from This Humid house used all local blooms including what they had foraged amongst the grounds and surrounding fields and forests. Unconventional bouquets were made from crab apples, wild strawberries and buckwheat. The ceremony was held under a birch structure with a traditional sod roof, alive with native greenery, which the florists embellished with the colourful flowers of late summer. Bespoke rituals were played out the partaking of magical waters and the making of music through a closed circuit of held hands.
Tzen reached out to couture designer Louise Xin who makes intricately detailed and explosive gowns. So intricate that Louise travelled with the gowns to Norway to prepare the garments and dress Tzen. First she wore a kimono style robe with a blooming tulle overskirt and trailing veil. In deep shades of blue and green Tzen and Aaron echoed the colours of the river, trees and mountains - divine. Her second dress was a lacy concotion with a flowing cape, worn throughout with her trusty sneakers to easily traverse the rolling landscape of Juvet.
Every meal prepared by resident chef Chris made using local seasonal ingredients was perfection but the last and most special meal was spectacular. Francoise and John set up a table in the valley with towering lupins wedged through the centre. The area is famous for its strawberries and the final course was a cake dripping in vine ripened strawberries, heavenly.
Thank you Tzen and Aaron for this unforgettable experience!
